Diana Ross @ Royal Albert Hall…

Last Saturday night Stuart and I went to go and see Diana Ross perform her Legacy show at the Royal Albert Hall in London’s glitzy South Ken.  The trip was the last of Stuart's 50th birthday gifts from me.

We weren’t too sure what to expect from Ms Ross, as we’ve been a little disappointed by her recent live appearances at Glasto, and at the Platinum Jubilee. Perhaps it was the open air or the audio mix that caused her to sound so off-key on those occasions. But whatever the reason we went on Saturday night with some degree of trepidation.

But we needn’t have worried, she was fantastic.

Flanked by a 20 piece orchestra and four backing singers Diana pumped out hit after hit and she sounded great. Lots of costume changes, lots of chatting to the audience, it was probably one of the best shows we’ve seen her do. She seemed so at home amongst fellow singers and with a band on stage with her.

With such a large back catalogue, we were never gonna hear every single song we wanted to hear. But I think she covered all the bases.  The woman behind us kept shouting out, “Chain Reaction” really loudly. I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t perform it, just to spite her!

But we really enjoyed ourselves and kept looking at each other and thinking ‘God, this woman’s great’.
