Catweazle vs The Slag Brothers...

I used to like Catweazle but used to love Wacky Races; especially The Slag Brothers, Rock and Gravel, in a caveman-themed race car called the Boulder Mobile.

With the lack of haircut during Covid lock-down, it turns out I'm turning into the former not the latter.

So what exactly is Cobra? Or, slightly more accurately, COBRA? See hear for the answer -->

Today's Factoid: Cobra meetings are often called in times of great need as the UK Prime Minister gathers his top advisers to discuss the latest national crisis. So what exactly is Cobra? Or, slightly more accurately, COBRA? Well, COBR (without the 'A') stands for "Cabinet Office Briefing" and so COBRA stands for "Cabinet Office Briefing Room A." So COBRA is a room. Often the terms Cobra, COBR, and COBRA are used interchangeably although there are other briefing rooms on site apart from room A. The Cabinet Office at 70 Whitehall in London has a number of secure Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms and room A is the biggest. The first COBR meeting took place in the early 1970s to oversee the government's response to the 1972 miners' strike. Other events that have led to meetings being convened include the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege, the 2001 foot and mouth outbreak, the 11 September 2001 attacks, the 7 July 2005 London bombings, the refugee crisis in Calais, the 2015 Paris attacks, the Manchester Arena bombing, and the current 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic.

The (Budget) Repair Shop...

OK, not exactly up to The Repair Shop Will or Dom’s standard (in craftsmanship or good looks) but yesterday I repaired an old toilet and today an old toaster.
Stuart mock oohed and mock aahed and shed a crocodile tear at my tea-towel reveal. 😆 @TheRepairShop

Dominic Raab...

Dominic Raab looks somewhat bewildered in TV interviews. Almost on the edge of tears. He whispers like he’s off-stage in someone else’s show. He doesn’t really have the air of a natural leader either. I hope he can up his game in Johnson’s absence. It must be daunting. But we need strong leadership at this time. I hope Boris pulls through! #BetterTheBorisYouKnow

St Thomas' Spelling...

‘That’ hospital spelling has always been wrong, wrong, wrong. The BBC know it. We all know it.
What’s more, it is wrong twice! It should be...

St. Thomas’s Hospital

The hospital’s spelling would only be correct if the hospital is owned by two people both called Thoma. The singular genitive of Thomas is Thomas’s.

And relax.... I need to get outside!

Peak Covid....

This is a potential time line for a serious case after being infected with Covid19. And explains why death rates have such a delay.

It also gives a hint of the date the largest number of people might be admitted to ICU (7th -15th April) and when the reported death rate may peak (17th-19th April).

I Love You....

I took Stuart’s hands in mine this morning, looked him in the eyes and said, "I love you".
He paused before saying, "Good one, you fat prick".
He never falls for my April Fools.
