Stuart has been a massive fan of Motown music for most of his life and whenever we’ve talked about going on holiday in the past, somewhere he’s always suggested was Detroit as a destination. Well, yesterday we went. And I don’t think he was disappointed.
The museum itself is two houses joined together where Berry Gordy formed the Motown record label and recorded all those hits by Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, The Miracles, et al.
We got to go into all of the original rooms and then into the recording studio too.
Stuart was completely beside himself and was hanging on every word of our tour guide
A very big tick in a very big box. ☑️
The train ride over there was very long and eventful because of the floods a couple of days ago that washed out the Beyoncé concert in Chicago, the massive sandstorms that had hit the area yesterday, and a tree that seemed to jump out onto the track in the path of our train. We ended up spending over 12 hours on trains yesterday. 🚂 Worth it though.
Fun fact: Detroit is north of Canada. No really.
