***Spoilers Below**
It was a fun, exciting, and thrilling 70 minutes of television. Well done Bad Wolf and RTD. The Reality War was a triumph.
You know that by the amount of reaction it has caused! People gasping and shouting at the TV. On a Saturday night. How amazing. It was like being a kid again.
Sure, it was a little bit confusing at times, a few plot holes for sure, but bonkers physical and special effects, heartfelt dialogue, a fantastic cameo, and a left-field regeneration - basically everything I used to love about it when I used to watch it from the 1960s onwards!
I remember the first change of Doctor when I was five years old in 1966 and it was completely confusing to me as a kid.
Likewise when the second and the third and the fourth Doctors all changed. I had no idea the change was coming on each occasion so it was always, shocking, surprising and exciting all at the same time.
Sad to see an old Doctor go but I was always excited for what was to come.
Bring on the next Doctor I say!
I quite like RTD having fun with the modern series. Because it should be fun. It’s telly! š¤©
In terms of the 15th Doctor leaving….
It was all filmed over a year ago so some of the recent reactions online and in print to recent events at Eurovision presentation and to this series’s viewing figures are completely irrelevant. Yes, the Sun newspaper - I’m looking at you!
The decision for Ncuti Gatwa to leave must have been made a long time ago when the series was being written - about 15-18 months ago maybe!
And as for Billy Piper taking over the 16th Doctor, I’m pretty convinced she won’t be. They’ll be some times-wimey utterly bonkers and confusing reason why she has appeared - probably as Rose Tyler in her Bad Wolf incarnation. Setting everything up for a big reveal for the new 16th Doctor after a special or two in which we get to see more of the glorious and amazing Billy Piper.
Bring it on, I say!
