Modern Pentathlon...
The Modern Pentathlon is a bit weird isn't it? Pistol shooting, fencing, 200m freestyle swimming, show jumping, and a 3km cross-country run. The Modern Pentathlon is unique as the only sport created by the founder of the modern Olympics specifically for its inclusion in the Games. And the reason for those sports? Well, it was the skills you might need if you were a 19th-century soldier caught behind enemy lines. I wonder what the equivalent would be for the 21st-century soldier?
