Last night Stuart and I went to the Wyndham's Theatre in London's glitzy West End to laugh, gasp, and generally be entertained by Inside No. 9 Stage/fright.
Starring the genius creators of the same-named and acclaimed BBC TV series, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith transported us into their world of intrigue, the unexpected, twists, turns, and black humour. There were plenty of familiar characters, nods to the show, and Easter Eggs for the observant.
I won't give anything away to spoil any of the surprises (of which there are many) or post any photos (of which I took many at the end), but if you like the TV show, you won't be disappointed.
Suffice to say, it's a very knowing show, that uses the theatre itself as a prop, uses theatre myths, takes the piss out of Jamie Lloyd's more recent theatrical devices, and takes gentle aim at theatre audiences, critics, and at recent performances by Kenneth Branagh, Sheridan Smith and a certain pop star turned ‘actress’.
Great fun.
