Last Friday night Stuart and I went to see Dixon and Daughters at the Dorfman Theatre on London's glitzy Southbank.
When matriarch Mary returns home from prison, there is both humour and horror in store aplenty provided by her daughters. Deborah Bruce's play certainly packs a punch as it explores a cycle and recycle of abuse. It is comedy, sure, there are some great laugh-out-loud lines, but the terrible actions - represented supernaturally on stage - are never far away.
The women seem unable to confront it. The spectre of abuse is the elephant in the room.
Great play. Disturbing and memorable.
