Last night Darren and I went to the Royal Vauxhall Tavern in London's glitzy Vauxhall to see a host of amazing cabaret performers celebrate the music of Kate Bush and to raise money for the charity Cabaret vs Cancer. The event was put together by the fabulous Dave Cross - HomeGround and KateBushNews.com
As I think we all know 2022 has been an amazing year for Kate Bush and her fans, with Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) topping the charts in the UK and all over the world, thanks to its creative use in the smash Netflix show Stranger Things. So this was the perfect time for HomeGround/KateBushNews.com to return to The RVT for another Kate themed night.
The night kicked off with the fabulous cabaret star Sarah-Louise Young (An Evening Without Kate Bush) singing And Dream of Sheep. Wonderful.
The rest of the show featured exclusive performances of Kate songs (many album tracks and fan favourites) from a stunning line up of acts, including, Jonathan Hellyer (cabaret superstar and the person behind The D.E Experience), Ginny Lemon (TV sensation and drag rebel), Sadie Sinner (The Songbird, host and founder of The Cocoa Butter Club), Sooz Kempner (amazing vocalist and fantastic stand up), Rose Garden with Phil Lawrence (much loved drag star who has performed at the last three HomeGround RVT events), and A Fat Child (new drag talent first seen at The RVT in NADC).
The whole night was hosted and held together by the amazing Michael Twaits (cabaret 'legend', host of Pride's Got Talent and Pride at Trafalgar Square.)
We had a great time. It was a fabulous night. Five hours of laughter and tears. And all in a good cause.
