Danny Welbeck...

Striker Danny Welbeck had a medical at Arsenal last night and then completed the move from Manchester United FC to Arsenal FC for £16m.

Danny Welbeck is the U2 of football; neither as good as the fanatics believe nor as bad as the haters suggest.

Still, it gives a strong English core at Arsenal - Chambers, Gibbs, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wilshere, Walcott ... and now Welbeck.

FA Community Shield 2014...

Yesterday afternoon my brother and I watched a great win at Wembley Stadium as the mighty Arsenal trounced the over-paid mercenary Manchester City 3-0 in the FA Community Shield to yet win more silverware! Let's build a bigger trophy cabinet boys!

Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace...

We beat Crystal Palace 2 - 0 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. It was a fun game and nice to be able to take the lovely Chewie Baron along for the first time. Although he's a Manchester United fan at heart his 'London team' is Arsenal and he was soon singing along with all the songs. I'll get him to see the error of his ways soon enough!

Top Of The League...

After a convincing win for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday as we entertained Liverpool FC we now find ourselves five points clear at the top of the league. Long may it continue!

Gay Gooners Flag...

Gay Gooners...

Last Saturday was Gay Pride in London. The recently formed Gay Gooners group were marching with the full support of the Arsenal Fooball Club. Naturally I went down to join them in my full replica kit and we all had a great time chanting and singing and feeling proud. I all but lost my voice by the end.

Interestingly huge cheers went up from Arsenal fans both gay and straight.  "Good on you" they shouted. "Arsene Wenger's Red Army we shouted back"

The odd boo (but good natured 'boo') from the watching crowd was generally from Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur fans. I went over to them and guesturing to the march said, "Where are Spurs and Chelsea then?" and they nodded and agreed. "Next year" they said, "next year we should be here too." And they should. As long as we out nubmer them!

Arsenal Qualify for Champions League Again!...

It was a nail-biter of a game. Arsenal needed to win against Newcastle United to guarantee Champions League football next year. A draw coupled with a win at arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur home game against Sunderland would have sunk us.

Luckily, and the use the word advisedly, we won. Phew!

Needless the boys celebrated like they'd actually won the European title itself. Steady on boys. Some way to go yet!

Arsenal 2 - 1 Aston Villa...

A win at last! Spencer and I went to the Emirates Stadium to watch the mighty Arsenal take on Aston Villa last Saturday. It was a bit if as scrappy win but we'll take it. Two great goals from Santi Cazorla.

After wards we went to the Rocket for one. Spencer met a mate with a mohawk called Steve and they chatted hair products. The way you do.

Arsenal 1 - 3 Bayern Munich...

Last night Simon and I went to watch the Champions League first round match at the Emirates Stadium as the might Arsenal took on the even mightier Bayern Munich.

We played pretty badly in the first half conceding two goals but picked up in the second, scoring one (courtesy of the ever smiling Lukas Podolski) but conceding another.

Just before kick-off the away fans let off a flare. Not a measly inshore one one but one of those 'you can see them for 50 miles in a storm at sea' bright orange ones. It filled the stadium with smoke and we could barely see the ball for 5 minutes. The smoke got caught in our throats too. My question is: how did they get in with that? And what if it had been a bomb?

Arsenal 7 - 3 Newcastle...

Last Saturday Paul and went to the late kick-off at the Emirates Stadium to watch the mighty Arsenal take on that "wee small club in the North" Newcastle. If it was an exciting and tense first half, it was a thrilling second.

The 10-goal thriller scoreline ran as follows:- 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 3-2, 3-3. 4-3. 5-3. 6-3, and finally 7-3.

Theo Walcott scored three goals and set up two more. Sign him up!

Arsenal 5 - 2 Spurs...

Well, well, well. So the North London Derby last Saturday didn't turn out quite as badly as it had first looked it was going to. After an early goal by Adebayor for Tottenham Hotspur things were looking grim for the Arsenal. But then he got himself sent off for a dreadful tackle and we ran rampant.

The score ended up being 5 - 2, the same as earlier on in the year when we turned round a 0 - 2 deficit.

Reading 5 - 7 Arsenal...

It was one of the most remarkable nights in League Cup history. It was a twelve-goal thriller.

A dismal performance in the first half left Arsenal 4-0 down. Then an amazing second half saw Theo Walcott scored a scintillating hat-trick as Arsenal produced one of the great comebacks to take their place in the last eight.

Arsenal Finishes Third...

Arsenal secured their place in next season's Champions League with a thrilling victory at the Hawthorns that owed much to a series of errors made by West Brom goalkeeper Marton Fulop.

The 3-2 victory means Arsene Wenger's side finish the season in third place which considering that we were 17th in the League last October isn't too bad.

It's sure been a roller-coaster of a season. Now if only we can hang on to Robin van Persie...
