Marble Arch Mound…

Last night Stuart and I went up the 136 steps of the Marble Arch Mound in London's glitzy West End.

Trumpeted as "London's newest and greatest outdoor attraction" it was certainly the former and certainly NOT the latter.

A pile of misplaced scaffolding with some dying turf on the side the mound cost £6-50 (reduced from £8) for Fast Track and offered interrupted views of the side of some buildings and some trees. 25 metres just isn't high enough.

Perhaps acknowledging this poor spectacle, the Marble Arch event organisers are today offering anybody who has booked a visit during the first week a return ticket free of charge so that they can enjoy the full experience as and when (if and when?) it is completed - including the Lightfield art installation, M&S Food, and the landscape once it has had time to bed in and grow.

I don't think we'll bother.

The gorgeous Tim Dunn has got a new 6-part series Secrets of the London Underground starting next week on the telly box. He's enthusiastic, cute, and the series is about my favourite topic - hidden underground stations!

Having now recovered... my advice - don't catch Covid if you can help it! It's rubbish...

Although my Covid has been defeated (I'm testing negative everyday and I'm probably super-immune with gazillions of antibodies now) I'm still left with a bit of a cough, lack of appetite and feeling tired. Stu reckons this is usual post-viral fatigue and should disappear in a week or so. Not fun though. Even after 2 jabs there is still a chance you can get it if exposed (10% or so). My advice - don't catch Covid if you can help it! It's rubbish.

Highbury Corner 1987...

This is a great photo of Highbury Corner from around 1987.  It shows the warehouses, the old labour exchange on Corsica Street, and some very new trees outside Dixon Clark Court...
