Last night Stuart and I went to see Martin Guerre at The Old Vic in London’s glitzy Waterloo. A reimagining so radical it still can’t rescue this lame duck of a musical. The folk inflections are all very well, but a little musical surgery cannot disguise the underlying problems. From the creators of Les Misérables? Les Mis it ain’t.
