Last night with Stuart went to see Under the Shadow at Almeida Theatre in London’s glitzy Islington.
Carmen Nasr’s stage spin on Babak Anvari’s BAFTA-winning chiller drops us into 1980s Tehran where a mother and daughter stay put during the Iran-Iraq War and end up sharing their flat with something far less welcome than falling missiles. Leila Farzad leads with grit and nerve as the suspense ratchets up. There was actual screaming in the theatre, always a promising sign. More eerie than earth shattering but a decent night of jumps and jitters.
