Stuart and I paddled into @bridgetheatreldn last night in glitzy Tower Bridge territory for a preview of Ibsen’s The Lady from the Sea updated with mobile phones, complaining millennials, and a lot of longing.
Alicia Vikander @aliciavikander made waves. Andrew Lincoln @andrewlincoln brought a four pack and trunks that deserved their own bow.
Vikander gave us haunted ocean yearning while Lincoln gave us haunted ocean abs.
The plot is woman vs husband vs sea vs memory which feels both ancient and scarily modern.
Previews mean a bit wobbly but the chemistry was slicker than the stage water effect.
Ibsen probably never imagined this but he would have applauded the abs.
