Breakfast in our hotel here is nice.
I usually have an omelette. With potatoes. Some strips of bacon. Coffee. Juice. Toast. Ketchup.
And Stuart brings me Marmite from UK.
Our server; “Want a refill, hon?” Sure.
The cost (included in our booking) is $37 each.
So $74 for two.
Then tax on top. Add $6.70.
Comes to $82.70.
I left $20 cash tip first day. Too much?
Stuart lowered it to $15 cash after that.
So we now pay $97.70 total each day for two breakfasts.
BTW I checked. $15 on a $82.70 bill is ‘just’ 18%. Minimum expected here is 20%. So we have been UNDER-tipping.
America is expensive.
If we’d known about the cost we would have not included breakfast in our booking but found a local diner. Lesson learned.
